Getting Uhaul pads in Australia?

Hi everyone

I’ve had no luck getting anything in AUS even close to a Uhual pad for my rabbits hutch lining. Was wondering if anyone knows a place in Australia or a place that ships them to Australia directly?
I had to sign up for a shipping service that gives me an American address. I purchased a few Uhaul pads with the US address and then the shipping company is forwarding them on to my Australian address, but it was so expensive! I paid over $70 in shipping on top of $50 odd dollars for 3 Uhaul pads. Not cheap, but the Uhaul pads seem to be the best and I’m keen on keeping the cage as sanitary and non-smelly as possible.

I have no idea what a Uhaul pad is, but it seems a ridiculous expense for cage lining. Is it cage lining that you need them for? I imagine that there’s lots of hygenic options that are less expensive and easier to come by.

In my rabbit’s pen area, I have 2 litter trays in one large under the bed storage box. I put a puppy pad to line the box, then fill the litter trays with a layer of paper based pellet and change every 3 days. It doesn’t smell in between changes, and they are right next to the sofa so I would notice if it did.

I used to use puppy pads to line their whole area when I was training them, but now I just leave the wooden floor bare, and have a couple of fleece blankets. I just wash the blankets every couple of weeks.

Would you consider using puppy pads? they’re disposable and easy. But without knowing exactly what you need the uhaul pads for its hard to make recommendations.

@Sirius&Luna: U-Haul is a self-service moving and storage company, which is best known for the variety of trucks that it offers for rental to people who are moving things from one place to another. It doesn’t seem to be active in Great Britain, but it does operate in Australia. @Dazzlingdiamonde: where in Australia are you? If you live in or near one of the larger cities (Sydney, Melbourne, etc.) there ought to be a U-Haul location in your area that you can contact. You might try this link:

I still can’t really see why a moving company helps with keeping the cage sanitary though? Am i missing something? I feel like there must be an easier solution if a hutch lining is what they want.

I think what the OP is trying to say is that the pads that U-Haul sells to cushion things being moved are particularly good, in her opinion, for lining rabbit hutches.

I’ve been trying to search to no avail. A couple of years ago when I was looking at making liners, I found a company in SA that manufactured similar products and automotive and similar carpets that seemed like they would be similar to the u-haul pads. They sold by the meter I think. But I must be searching using the wrong terms because I can’t find it now.

This is just an example, but it was something recycled like this, but came in different thicknesses etc. http://www.airstep.com.au/product/cushion-pad/ You might be able to get results using similar search terms for textile or recycled industrial fabrics etc.
