I have 4 bun’s and i usually pay attention to all the girls but lately i have noticed that i forget about the boy- freddy. I feel really really bad so i try to pat him and get him use to me. But when i pat him he runs away and when i pick him up he squirms! How do i get him use to me??

One of the things that makes our buns feel much more comfortable with us is not picking them up unless they need their nails done, etc. Most bunnies don’t like being held, especially up off of the ground. Perhaps it’s an instinctual reaction to being a prey animal; if they’re off the ground, they can’t run from potential predators.

It is hard to avoid picking them up because they’re so CUTE, but I know from experience that they’ll be less likely to run if they don’t think they’re going to be held.

Yes, but when i first got him off my mum’s friend-he ran up to his old owner and let her pick him up and put him on his back…

Well… you could try the “on the floor, ignore” trick. That has worked for a lot of people, me included when Remy was a baby. You let him out and just lie there, very still. If and when he comes up to you, you don’t react in any way. Don’t reach out to him or respond to him. He’ll probably sniff you and maybe even jump on your back. Eventually he’ll come to trust you and realize that you’re safe!

How old was he when the previous owner had him? it could just be that he has gotten older and isn’t an easy going baby now.

According to the clickerbunny book I’ve been treating Franz when he let’s me touch his chin/ belly/ feet, and giving him a big reward when he let’s us pick him up. It took a couple months but he likes being pick up now!!

oh nooooooooooes! Is it too big? You can open it up in Microsoft Paint, go to “Image,” then “Resize/Scew” and make it smaller so BB will let you upload it.

                                                  Interesting

Bunnies have moods.. sometimes mine wants to be bossy bun and demands pets, some days she doesn’t want anything to do with me.

I’ve fallen asleep on the couch several times this week and she jumps on me, crawls on me, and thinks it is funny to jump onto the couch and be face to face

I still often use the “sit on the floor, ignore” technique with Olivia because she is so skittish. I often lay on a blanket on the floor and watch tv and she uses me as a jungle gym and then will come over for nose pets. Some bunnies are like cats, it has to be “THEIR” idea.
