I live in an apartment. I dislike buying my veggies at the store. They aren’t fresh, or as nutrient packed as when you grow your own. Also Chom is highly picky. ((I’m working on expanding his diet, so far no good lol. Stubborn, picky, spoiled butt!)) And finding what he likes all the time can be quite a challenge.
So I’m gonna be starting a garden! Buuuuut… Like I said I live in an apartment. Sooooooooo… I found a few different lettuces specifically that grow well in pots.
But… I know certain kinds of lettuce are bad for rabbits because they have Lactucarian in them. And I can’t seem to find out if rabbits can eat any of these breeds of let Ryu ce I may possibly be growing. Most of their diet lists state the specific romaine, red leaf, and green leaf, but also say other dark greens….
Any fellow bun owners and gardeners I’d really appreciate your input here. I’ll list the different lettuces below.
Little Gem Lettuce
Nymans Leaf Lettuce
Winter Density Lettuce
Bubbles Lettuce
Lollo Rossa Lettuce
Pandero Mini Red Romaine Lettuce
Tintin Lettuce
Salad Bowl Cut-and-Come-Again Lettuce
Tom Thumb Lettuce
Sangria Butterhead Lettuce
Oakleaf Lettuce
Green Frills Lettuce
Freckles Lettuce
Dazzle Romaine Lettuce
Those are the lettuce types I can grow indoors in pots easily. I don’t wanna risk my bun’s health, just in case any of these varieties are not good for him. I’ll be growing a minimum of 3 different lettuces, to keep them mixed and have some variety In his diet.
