5 days ago I got a bunny. i don’t know what her age is, but she fits in my palms. i have a picture of her in my previous post, so you could take a look at it.
from what i know i have to feed her unlimited pellets while she is still young. but on monday i weighed her, she was 255 grams. tuesday was 290 grams, and today she is 320 grams. she was being housed with 3 other bunnies at the store, and being fed seeds and corn + very little hay. i’ve seen her eating more pellets than hay, so i don’t know if i should limit her pellets. is the weight gain normal?

if you havent already, i think you should find a rabbit savvy vet, they can tell you what an appropriate diet would be, as she might have some health issues. Maybe she was severely underweight at the pet store, and now that shes getting a better diet, shes gaining all that weight back. Heres a link that will help you determine if shes underweight/overweight http://www.therabbithouse.com/diet/rabbit-weight.asp

from that guide, she seems to be the perfect weight. i doubt she has any health issues, she is very active, eating and pooping properly. she was also the runt of the litter, and was hiding in a corner while the others were eating. at first i was worried she might go into stasis, but she looks perfectly fine now. the only rabbit vet in my city that is not extremely overpriced ($100 for a check-up) is out of the country for a few more days, but i’ll take her to him as soon as possible.

There is a period in a young bun’s life when it gains super fast. It’s the same with young dogs. It’s actually the same with humans too, especially young teenage boys.

The growth curve then evens out, and that’s when you stop the unlimited pellets. A young bun needs more pellets than an adult bun. (The same principle goes for puppies and young men).
