i was laying on the floor in baby’s room at lunch today so i could peer at her under her dresser & give her a couple of head rubs.  every time i’d stop she’d proceed to lick & nibble my fingers / hand and then lower her little chin to the floor to demand more pets.  i obliged for a while & then wondered if she’d come out from her ‘warren’ if i moved back a bit.  sure enough she did but her licks & nibbles got much more insistant shall-we-say.  she nipped pretty hard and i let out an ‘EEK’ and jerked a wee bit to let her know it was too much.  this stopped her cold and she gazed at me with one lop ear further forward than the other.  i interpreted this as ‘huh?’  then she licked & nipped hard again… i responded the same… she responded the same to my response.  the third round instead of ‘huh?’ i got a wierd look with both ears pointing slightly back and then she ran under her dresser and gave out a big THUMP!

anyone speak ‘bunny’ better than me?  what was that last bit all about?  was she scared of my noises or mad cause she thought i rejected her grooming?

Maybe both. Too funny. I do love to hear a rabbit thump though.

Sarita, you should come to my house…Sometimes there is no better intepretation for their thumping then “i disapprove of humans” !

There is alot of random thumping at my house!

Babybunsmom I dont speak bunny all that well, but maybe it was a “this is about me not you-groom me darn it” thump hehehe

I would say that she was offended by your "eek!" I’m not sure she understood and thought she was being as nice as could be to you in bunny-terms. You might want to try a "no" instead.  It’s hard to say exactly what she was thinking, but she was offended and let you know it.  Did she feet flick you too while she was hopping away?

lol… no feet flick this time… although thats her fav reaction after i pick her up for a forced ‘hold & cuddle’.  the feet flick is just unmistakeable & utter disgust isnt it?

i’ll try a stern ‘NO’ next time instead of ‘EEK’.  she was doing the same thing later on & i seem to think she’s prodding me for head pets with her kisses & nibbles.  the longer i take to oblige the stronger the nibbles get.  she’s been VERY happy with head pets since her surgery & stays put soaking up the attention longer than before the sweet thing!  i’m loving it (she says selfishly enjoying the extra affection) =)

I get the same thing from one of my boy bunnies. He is quick to nip if I haven’t pet him in a couple seconds, he usually gives me a warning nose poke and then *BITE* if I don’t return a few head pets. A few days ago I moved my knee so he couldn’t bite it and he thumped at me and ran under the bed – I think he was angry that not only was I not petting him, but I had moved myself out of his reach!
