My rabbit Dean is a 4 month old Lionhead. He is very energetic and still is. But lately we noticed that one of his front paws is losing fur and has some reddish pink scratches. Im not sure if they are scratches or if his skin is peeling Can someone tell me what may have caused this and what the cure is? He lives in a wire bottom cage (i know its not very good but it keeps him from stepping all over his poop).

It is very likely caused by the wire mesh. Place a piece of cardboard or tile or wood plank or any flat surface covering half of the cage to prevent pressure sores on feet.

I would work on litter training your little boy so he doesnt have to get cut up from the mesh. Its easier when they are neutered because they prefer to stay clean

Is this the bottom of his foot?

What size is the opening of the wire mesh that you are using on the bottom of the cage? If the opening is too large, this is likely the cause for the rawness of the bottom of the foot – Should be using something like the 12 x 12 wire mesh seen here:
http://www.bwire.com
Also – make sure to test the wire mesh for any rough spots and sand them down. Any rough spots in the mesh can act as knive-like and razor sharp.
