  My partner’s sister has foot and mouth disease and I’m just wondering if it’s something that can be passed on to rabbits?

  The human foot and mouth disese is not transferable to animals. It’s most common in small children and mainly transferred via the oral-fecal route.
  
  Hoof and mouth disease isn’t the same disease although the names are easily confused. H&m is a zoonosis, although it seems to occur very infrequently in humans. Last reported case of a human with hoof and mouth disease in Britain was in 1966.

  So even if me and my partner were to catch the human foot and mouth, the rabbits would be safe? Phew!

  We’re like 99% my daughter had this about a year ago (had all the symptoms but no official diagnosis) and she snuggles the bunnies and they were fine.
