        Hi all,
When I first got indie the lady told me the wrong amount of pellets to be feeding for her size. I cut it to where it should be, but i feel guilty because she eats all of her dinner pellets before I go to bed. Which makes me want to give her a little more. She has hay and gets veggies twice a day. Am i starving thos bunny or just have a guilty conscience ? I will mention I am.a soft touch when it comes to this, hence why my cats were slightly overweight.

You can always spread the pellets out. We give ours half her pellets in the morning and half at night. That way, she gets something to look forward to.

Plus, buns will always act like they’re starving if pellets are involved .

I agree with Sleepy. And rabbits are experts at making you feel guilty for not feeding them enough. The best thing is to weigh the bun weekly. Then you’ll have proof you’re not under-feeding your bun. (Not that buns care about proof, she’ll still look at you like you haven’t given her any food since Christmas. But you will know.)

Rabbit always want far more food than they should have. It’s natural for a wild animal and probably exacerbated because they were mostly bred as meat animals. They will eat to obesity easily on pellets and veggies and can kill themselves on fruits and starches.

It’s not all bad because you can get a lot of bonding or training from giving treat foods like pellets in small amounts throughout the day. Just keep the total amount limited.
