        Hello everyone!

My boyfriend and I are moving into our own house within a month or two, and the floors were all replaced so they are brand new. My (unbonded) boys are going to have their own room, which is going to contain their separate enclosures and all of their supplies. I am wondering what you guys have had good luck with to lay down under their pens, to protect from digging/chewing and accidents/marking since they are moving into a new location, so I am anticipating it. They have caused some damage to the flooring at my house here, so I want to prevent it from happening in my partner and I’s new home. Thanks so much!

          Hi! Welcome back!

What kind of flooring is it? Carpet? Or wood?

I’ve had the best luck with a big piece of plywood with vinyl tiles stuck on top. I ended up using these tiles that are similar to what they use in hospitals and industrial type places. Then some blankets or grass mats for traction. On carpet I have also used those hard plastic carpet protectors that go under office chairs, but they are kind of weird shaped.

They are going to be “wood” floors. I believe they are the lock-click ones that dont do well when they get wet though. I forget what they are called at the moment

Oh I know what you mean. What about a big piece of linoleum? Maybe with some pee pads underneath to catch any spills that run off the sides?

I am currently trying to solve this problem as well. I think I am going to purchase one of those hard mats that you put beneath office chairs. I have had luck searching for these by typing out ‘hard floor protector hardwood floors’. I found one thats about 4 feet x 5 feet for $40. Pricey but if you are renting and need to protect the floors might well be worth it! Good luck !
