Fleas- HELP QUICKLY! Urgent!!!!!!

So I have two dogs, and they got fleas from being outside. Well my dad and I didn’t notice it at first, until I realized BonBon had been itching a lot lately. I too had been getting bites on myself and seeing the f***ing parasites running around. Well tomorrow I’m taking the day off of work and once I get out of school I’m deep cleaning, not only my dogs but my whole house as well.

Now, my problem is, I have noticed that the fleas aren’t only on BonBon’s back, but around her eyes, nose, and ears as well. I was going to get Advantage tomorrow and apply some to her, but I don’t know what to do about her head. Can I put Advantage on her ears? Will putting it on her back take care of her whole body including her head?

We don’t have a ton of money due to other factors previous to the fleas, so we can’t really afford a vet. If you guys know anything else that might work that will help her, it would be very very needed. If there is no other option then a vet then I will try and scrounge up the money tomorrow however I would like to avoid it as best as I can since I will already be buying a lot…

Please help me, I’m so worried for and have been crying nonstop. I just want to help her, please give me any advice you can to get them off of her head.

If you use the Advantage as directed it will kill all the fleas. Just apply the correct dosage behind the neck near the shoulders as per the instructions and the chemicals will coat her skin within a few hours and kill the fleas. Just make sure you only use Advantage, Revolution or Advocate, NOT any of the other products.
Correct dosage is 0.1 ml per kilogram of body weight.

What would you recommend for a Netherland Dwarf? I read some things saying that the dosage recommended for kittens would work on smaller rabbits, would that be enough?

I would get a single dose ampule of the cat Advantage. It is the same strength as the kitten product but they put more in the ampule. It works out cheaper and you will get a couple of doses from one ampule. If the infestation is very ban it might take a second application within 2-3 weeks to be completely rid of them.
Also buy some food grade diametaceous earth to treat the carpet and garden to help prevent the fleas reinfesting.

The kitten Revolution contains 0.25ml of selamectin. This is ideal for a bunny of 2.5 kilograms. What does your bunny weigh ?

I wanna say she probably weighs no more than 3-3 and a half lbs I believe.

I forgot to mention that I was also thinking of getting an ear cleaner. I had no idea until just yesterday they were a thing even for larger pets, so that’s my own ignorance. Would the ear cleaner also help with her fleas?

No, it would not make any difference to the fleas. It would simply remove any build up from mites or wax. The topical treatment of Revolution or Advantage will also address any mites.

Great answer Roberta! BonBon, I completely agree with Roberta. Apply Advantage as directed and it should get rid of the fleas on her entire body. Treat the carpets with diatomaceous earth to prevent reinfestation.

Never EVER use Frontline on rabbits. It is toxic to them.
