I’m really worried about Orion! I noticed her itching a lot and figured she’s gotten fleas. I checked and saw one and I think there could possibly be more. What are some ways to prevent/get rid of fleas??? I feel really bad and I would hate for it to get worse.

You can use Advantage against fleas on rabbits. It’s the only rabbit safe anti-flea that’s available OTC. Do NOT use any compound that contains fipronil (Frontline, Sentry, Effipro and others), because fipronil is deadly toxic to rabbits.

Clean the environment thoroughly, especially carpets. You can treat carpet with diatomaceous earth, let it sit for 24 hours and then vacuum it out – but it can be difficult to get it all out. It’s non-toxic, but the bunny shouldn’tt be in direct contact with it because it’s a fine powder that can irritate the airways.

Here’s a little bit of info about fleas and flea treatment for buns: http://www.allearssac.org/fleas.html
