        Hi
After being to the vets a month ago, I noticed (about a week or two ago) that my bunny Delilah’s fur on her back had started coming out in clumps, when I looked closer her skin is all flakey with white bits. I thought it might be mites so have applied some anti-parasite spot on to her back, this seems to have had no improvement and it’s started now further down her back also.

Delilah never left my flat prior to going to the vets that time so I am really worried about what this might be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
        Thank you

Welcome to BB! Sorry to hear your having this issue. Flaky fur loss is never fun.

I recommend going to the vet to have her assessed for mites or ringworm if it’s getting bigger. The sooner, the better. Both are treatable, but the identification from a professional is required! Be careful when applying your own treatments. There are flea and other topical treatments that can be lethal to rabbits.

What treatment did you use? Not saying that it is fur mites, but stuff like Advantage is ineffective against them.

Can you post pictures? Fur mites have a distinct pattern.

I would suggest having a vet take a look at it. Ivermectin might be the way to go, depending on what it is. Whatever you do, do not use anything with fipronil (e.g. Frontline, etc.) in it.

That looks like fur mites to me, but I’m no vet. You can get ivermectin from a vet, which would be effective if it is indeed fur mites.

I’m no vet either, but my Bam had fur mites once. This looks to me like fur mites. Ivermectin or selamectin (Revolution) are effective antiparasitics against mites. You need a vet for those meds unless you’re in Australia.
