        Hi everyone!
Tomorrow will be thumpers first vet appointment . I plan on going to the store today to get him a pet carrier is there anything else I need to know or bring before his appointment? Like what should I put in the pet carrier when I bring him ? He will be getting a general health check up and hopefully I can make an appointment for him to get neutered! He’s been super cute and enjoyable every time we take him out he follows us around we did have a little bit of a nipping issue all the sudden but I do think a lot of it is because my daughter expects him to be like a puppy so I explained to her that he needs to be respected and you need to give him his space. so we are working on that. I told her to not be so on top of him, so he cannot learn this nipping behavior and I also don’t want her getting bit again because it hurts end it will ruin the relationship on her end. Most of the biting has been directed at her and I feel bad! but we are all learning and hopefully him getting neutered will also help as well!

You can put puppy a pee pad in the carrier and a fleece blankie on top. He is likely to pee in the carrier in the car or at the vets, because a trip like that is a little bit scary for most bunnies.

I think getting him neutered will help. If his testicles have descended he is technically ready to be neutered, but some vets like to wait a bit longer.

          Good luck!!!!

I put food in the carrier…. Depending on the wait time, bun may want to eat something.
Zou doesnt touch anything when the car is moving but does nibble when it stops.
Henry…. Well nothing stops my Henry the Hoover!!!! I fill his carrier up with grub and its gone by the time the vet calls us in….

I always bring a towel with me because Luna doesn’t like the slippery metal examination table, so I lay the towel over it for her to sit on comfortably.

Hay is fine, but if it’s a long drive/wait, greens are good because they contain water. It. can be difficult to get a bunny to drink water during a trip.

When I took my bunbuns I just used straw on the base of the carrier (although I wouldn’t recommend, I’d use carefresh instead as straw doesn’t absorb wee!) I put a hay cookie in there for them but they didn’t start eating it til after they’d been examined. I’d suggest a water bottle if it’s more than a 15 minute trip, luckily my vets is only 10 minutes away A towel or blanket might be useful for handling them. Good luck!

Maybe a towel to cover the box with bunny in, because dogs and cats might be there and stare at bunny.
What I do is put hay in Olly’s box on top of newspaper and hide a few raisins, I only live 10 minutes away and as soon as the taxi driver opens the door Olly is already covered up, because if there is traffic and wind it can be scary for bunny.
Also talk to your vet, point out any minor bumps, spots and ask questions, talk to your bunny too and stoke him and tell him he’s very good, taking a few raisins for a snack after he has been looked at is nice, bunnies are like children at the doctors and can be very scared, reassure bunny that everything is OK.

Last year my Olly nearly died and had to go to an emergency vet, but now he’s OK with going there, he likes to give the nurses kisses.

Definitely agree with the reassurance thing. My bunnies were frozen in fear (I’d only had them a week and a half before I took them to be vaccinated) but I pet them and talked to them whilst they were being examined and I believe that’s what helped them ‘come round’ quicker when we got them home. It was as if they’d forgotten the whole fiasco, I was expecting Buttercup to have a little strop!

Glad to hear Olly is okay and flirting with the nurses!
