Hello, everyone. My name is Jess and I just got my first bunny on the 16th of October. His name is Jack Hodgins (if anyone watches Bones) or Hodgins/Hodge/…Monster for short. In addition to Hodgins I have two cats, Greylag and Walker, Texas Ranger (Tex). They are siblings from a litter of ferals I hand-raised. I also have a five year old (human, haha) so my house is in a permanent state of chaos.
I honestly had no intentions of owning a rabbit. But I’m sure you all know that when you are an animal lover, somehow animals in need just find you. Hodgins was part of a litter found in an abandoned apartment building. I guess the people that took him had allergies so they gave him to their mom and she wasn’t able to keep him so he was living in a tiny cage on her porch. She didn’t even know rabbits are supposed to eat hay.
Luckily she knows my dad and he told me about the situation and…yeah.
I have no idea what type of bun Hodgins is, or how old he is. I’m thinking he’s part lop because his ears tend to be all over the place, and sometimes one will fully flop over while he’s relaxing. I also suspect that he’s under a year old.
He was fearless from the moment he entered the house. I was going to leave him alone until he felt safe but he wanted out by the second day. He wasn’t alarmed by or even interested in the cats and thankfully they have been really good with him. He’s been bunny flopping (admittedly the first time he did this I thought I may have killed him) and binkying all over the house.
I try to avoid using the flash on my camera so it’s nearly impossible to get him to hold still long enough for a picture. Here are some where he’s not just a white blur:
