I think my little girl is going through her first shed

I just got back from vacation and there is hair EVERYWHERE

I can’t touch her without a black cloud billowing out behind her

She’s a dwarf mix of some kind with short hair so… do I need to brush her or just let nature run its course?

She’s always been good about eating her hay so I’m not too worried about her if she ingests some while grooming and whatnot

Since your bunny is going through a “shed,” you should be brushing her everyday in the natural direction of her coat with a brush that doesn’t have sharp, pokey, metal bristles because that might harm her if you brush too hard. And DO NOT LET HER INGEST HER HAIR. This can lead to very serious respiratory problems. I hope that helps!

Definitely brush her. I don’t brush mine every day when they are shedding, but it’s a good idea to do it once a week at minimum and get out as much of the fur as you can.

Bunnies naturally ingest some hair when they groom themselves, and it’s typically not a problem, but you don’t want to let them ingest a ton of it. However, if their stomachs slow down for other reasons (like illness) the excess hair can get backed up and contribute to the problem.
