        Hi there everyone,

First time rabbit owner. My girlfriend always wanted a pet rabbit, and once I moved out into an acreage, she surprised me with one… Apparently I’ll be keeping it! I fell in love with the little guy. He is a French Lop (I believe), and is 6 months old. His name is Cadburry!

So far, I just put him into a fairly large dog kennel with a litter box (which he is using pretty good so far), a wood house, a water bottl and some toys. Recently, when I am around, I keep the door open and let him explore on his free will (under supervision of course). I change his water every day, add a 1/4 cup pellets and a handful of fresh hay every morning (I discard the old stuff). I usually give him a little bit of parsley or spinach daily as well – small quantities. He has yet to have diarrhea. This is beginning to sound like a little too much for a basic intro haha.

        – Cody

Cadbury is very cute! Are you planning on getting him…or her (gender mix ups are common in young bunnies!) spayed or neutered when the s/he is ready? It’s a vital part of bunny health!

Cadbury could actually be having an unlimited amount of pellets till approximately 8-10 months of age, he’s growing and is full of energy right now, he needs that energy to explore his new life. Sounds like you are doing well taking care of him, keep an eye on his poops when introducing new vegetables.

Yes, he is booked in all ready for mid-february with a rabbit-friendly vet.
I actually had no idea I was going to have a rabbit living with me. I came home from work and the girl friend had a cage set up. (secretly I wanted one…) I have been reading non-stop about care since, but figured a forum would be a good thing to join too.

                  Thanks everyone!
As per ‘bunnygirl’s post, this morning while Cadburry was free roaming the livingroom, I gave hime about 1/2 cup of pellets. He all ready demolished them. I’ll probably give him another handfull once he leaves his cage again
