Thought the photo was cute but I feel so bad for that family though! I’m glad no one was hurt.

Gotta love the FD in my town It does suck that the family didn’t have renters insurance… always get insurance!! And with a 2 year old, and no working smoke detector.. they are lucky it didn’t happen when they were all sleeping

            Oh nice! A fellow Oregonian

I definitely agree. Even with all the damage they were very lucky that it wasn’t worse.

So cute. I love hearing stories like this.

There have been a lot of fires this winter in my area and so many of them, you read that a cat or dog died. While it would be devastating to lose personal possesions, pets are like people and not replaceable.

I remember when I was in grade 2 (only like 20 some years ago ….but I still clearly remember this. This was my animal advocacy coming out. ) We had some firefighters come to talk to our class about fire safety, devising an escape plan with your family, etc. And my teacher said “Don’t grab anything, not your coat, not your teddy, not even your pet. All those things are replaceable.” Up goes my hand. Thus staring an argument with my teacher. I told her “you can’t replace a pet, just like you can’t replace a person. If I died my parents could have a new baby, but it wouldn’t be the same. Just like if my cat died and I bought another from a pet store.” Take that teacher.

Yay! So good everyone and got out safe.
I did hear a story once where a pet rabbit alerted the owners to a fire by thumping.

I think there needs to be a Firemen with Rabbits calendar.

@Stephanie, I LOVE that story! Love it.
You should be very proud of your 6/7 (?) year old self.
