Last night Monty had what we assumed to be a gassy episode. He has had them before, and recovered from them. He had a fun, active morning, but didn’t eat much hay, and by the afternoon was hiding under the bed. He ate tasties (celery, kale, pellets) when handed directly to him but refused to move for them. We eventually got him into ‘his’ bedroom and settled in bed, where he did some small poos and took a while to settle down.
We planned to take him to the vets this morning, but when we got up he was absolutely fine and dancing about the house. He has been fine all morning… I didn’t give him any pellets this morning and he ate LOTS of hay, was playing and being a great help with the cleaning. He last pooped at about midday (small, but not alarming considering he had eaten much the night before), ate some hay, had a big drink and then went back under the bed, onto the suitcase we keep under there. The same place he was hiding last night.
I am very confused. He is eating veg and pellets when offered (when handed directly to him, again), but refusing to eat hay. One minute he’s stretching himself out, crunching and pushing his belly to the floor (like he does when gassy), the next he is doing a big flop and roll and look really comfortable… I have made a vet appointment for tomorrow morning, the earliest we could get, but just wanted… well, anything, really. It’s all very strange. One minute he is normal Monty Bunny, the next a poorly boy. Any ideas?
