fake or real pregnancy

hiiii. I’ve had my female California Rex since the beginning of May and note that she is not fixed. Today I noticed her belly is kind of odd and that she is making sort of a nest in her cardboard hide house. she has had NO contact with other rabbits so I’m confused. I was wondering if somebody could tell me if this is fake or real pregnancy and give me a link for more info. before you tell me to get her fixed, the nearest exotic animal care is 5 hours away and my parents are kinda busy having 5 kids lol.

If she has had no contact with other buns since the beginning of May, then she is almost certainly not pregnant Rabbit gestation is about 30 days, so its been almost twice that long now. She probably is having a false pregnancy, given the nest building.

You will note at the end of the article it talks about spaying as a good treatment. I know you said you have already ruled this out, but it is good to think about for many reasons! A female rabbit has about a 80% chance of developing uterine cancer by age 5, and the risk starts going up after age 3. With spayed buns, females can live 8-10 years so it is a huge factor in health and life expectancy! It may not be possible right now, but it would be good to consider getting her spayed at some point.

Youll need to get her spayed anyway. As ThorBunny says, females are prone to uterine cancer. Uterine cancer is harder to treat and much more pailful on a rabbit. Not to mention, much, much more expensive than a spay.
