  Maybe about a month ago, Gizmo had an issue with his eye. It was watery, he had it half open, and there was a little discharge. I thought maybe he poked himself in the eye or something and it was gone the next day, so I didn’t think much of it. Yesterday, I came home and noticed his eye was closed and the fur surrounding it was wet. There was no discharge and it wasn’t like that in the morning. Today, it’s the same, so I called the vet. They don’t have anything until Tuesday, but told me I should call tomorrow and get him put in as an emergency because they thought it sounded serious.
  
  I looked around and didn’t necessarily see anything that told me it was an immediate issue, so I just want to get people’s thoughts on it. If I have to take off tomorrow and take him to the vet, I will, but does anyone have any pointers? I read it could be a blocked tear duct, but anything else? And how serious?

  Hmm… depends. Does he have any other symptoms? It could be a number of things. A scratch or ulcer on the cornea, a blocked tear duct, tooth roots, etc. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to wait if it was a scratch/ulcer since those can go from bad to worse quickly.

  He’s acting normal, moving around, eating, grooming the other bunny. I can’t see any visible damage to his eye and there doesn’t appear to really be discharge, it’s just watery. Because it’s happened before, I definitely want to take him to the vet, but I’m wondering if it could wait until Saturday.

  Update: took him to the vet and it turns out he had a piece of hay in his eye!!! No scratches, thankfully.
