Just looked through the bunny’s litter boxes and found about 4 cecotropes. I don’t usually see any and I’m not sure what bun is the culprit. I’ve called my vets for advice and am waiting for a call back.
They both eat a good amount of hay, although I did think they haven’t eaten as much today (the pair of them) but of course as soon as I spoke to the vets, they both started munching away
Both have greens every day and pellets. The only change is I gave them some parsnip for the first time yesterday. Could that be it?
Edit: It appears to be Buttercup producing the excess cecals as she’s just hopped out of the litter box and left two more.
2nd edit: So, the excess cecals stopped, Buttercup’s appetite was back to normal, she was quite active, BUT she wasn’t doing many normal poops. Took her to the emergency vets who examined her and said she can’t hear any movement in her tummy but there is food in there, I. E. It’s impacted slightly/blocked. They gave her a metacam injection and a couple others to stimulate her gut so we should expect fresh poops by morning.
