Ewwwwwww. Bugs.

I live in an apartment that is actually converted from a house – the landlord took an older house, and split it in half into two apartments.  Like I said, it’s older, so lots of nooks/crannies.

It’s getting warmer out, and I’m starting to see bugs trying to make a home inside.  Ewwwww.  I hate bugs SO MUCH.  I’m trying to keep everything as clean and sealed up as possible.  The bugs only seem to come out at night.  To try and get them to leave, I’ve stopped giving the bunnies bedtime greens, and I pick up and put away in an airtight container their pellet dishes at night.  So from about 9 PM – 5 AM, they have just hay and water.

Is this okay?  I give them back their pellets around 6 AM, and they get greens at 6 AM and then around 4-5 PM.  I feel bad not letting them have greens and pellets at bedtime, but they seem okay getting some fresh hay instead.

Any other tips for keeping the bugs out in a bunny home?

They should be fine only having hay at night. I do that with my bunnies and I find it actually encourages them to eat more hay. What kind of bugs are they?

That’s true, Hera is a little hay vaccuum but Zeus will always pass up his hay if he’s got something tastier.

I don’t know what kind of bugs they are, the landlord called them “water bugs”.  They look like beetles of some sort?  At least they’re not very fast, so when I spot one I can scream like a girl and make the boyfriend come kill it, LOL.

Yeah, are they stinkbugs? They’re pretty harmless, and slow.

Often they get in from outside during the evening, because they are attracted to the warmth and light. I find one in my house maybe weekly.

IME they are very seasonal, so it shouldn’t be a problem once summer comes.

The bunnies should be fine with your feeding schedule, though I don’t think it really matters – they are more attracted to your house than to the food being out. I’ve never found one in any food area anyway – they are always randomly in my bedroom, or bathroom, or living room.

Honestly I’m not sure what kind of bugs they are, but they are darker than the bug Diamond posted.

Small update; the landlord decided to call an exterminator. I’m glad he’s not DIYing it. The bunnies and my guinea pig are “vacationing at grandma’s”, LOL. My mum is keeping them for a few days. They’re happy as clams there, silly buns. My mum’s house is bigger, airer, and way more natural light than mine. They probably won’t want to come home…!
