        Hello

We have got our little Howey a girlfriend!! A 9 week old lion head that we have called Matilda. She is beautiful! They met in a neutral area with an experienced bunny bonder. There was no scuffels, she kept putting her head under him for fuss and being submissive, he was initially ignoring her but he gave in and lay next to her. All looked good so we took her home.

Now Howey is on his own turf….he has mounted her, shoved her by running at her and lifting her up with his nose but then poking her nose  gently and lying with her.

What do you make of this? It is going really well, it’s the shoving her that I’m worried about.

        Thanks

Sounds great! I can’t wait to see pics.

Just remember that she’s very young, and young bunnies tend to get along really well with others. As she starts to go through puberty, her personality is going to change and she might get territorial and aggressive towards Howey. It doesn’t hurt to bond them, but, if it were me, I wouldn’t let them live together full time until after her spay. You don’t want them getting in a fight when her hormones do hit if you’re not there to break it up.

Good luck with her! And I looove the name Matilda.

hahaha! Me thinks somebody was wanting another bunny all along… Who can blame you. Congratulations to you both. Love the name.

On Howeys turf, things sound pretty good. The mounting is understandable. If it’s excessive, push him off. Especially since Matilda is a young.
