Ellis adopted us back in May and I (Laura) have been lurking on BinkyBunny for a while, learning lots. We don’t know any other bun owners, so it’s been very helpful and reassuring to hear about others’ experiences.
Ellis is a rescue rabbit from Animal Rescue League in Pittsburgh. He was about 6months old, litter trained, neutered, and socialized when we met, and settled in with us very quickly. He seems to be pretty comfortable as an only-rabbit, and has developed unique relationships with all three of us (me, my husband, and our adult daughter). We’ve done what we can to bunny-poof a messy house, and he seems to have accepted the boundaries. He has plenty of space to race around and bink when he needs to, but is generally pretty laid-back. He doesn’t like going outside, which is fine with us (we live in the city, with too many potential predators).
We’re still figuring out each others’ likes and dislikes, but so far things seem to be working out well for all of us. Ellis is the first real pet we’ve had as a family (tried birds, fish, mice when the kids were little; hubby is allergic to cats; dogs need a lot more work and attention than we could provide), and we couldn’t be happier.
Lots more stories, of course, like all bunny-homes. Looking forward to meeting more bunny families!
