Hi everyone! I made an appointment for thumper for the vet and he’s getting shaved so nothing internal is happening. That being said, do I have him fast before we go? I read that we aren’t supposed to but others have told me that they should? Please help! I wanna make sure that everything goes as smooth as it can for my bun! Also, if he is to eat… any tips for things before? Thumper loves pellets and lettuce (and of course hay!) and these all make up his diet for the most part. Is there anything I should add or take away before he goes under? Thank you!!

Do NOT fast! I would just let him eat his usual diet , except maybe no fruit (sugar) the morning of.

Surely he won’t be anesthetized to be shaved?

Either way, bunnies should never have their diet restricted before vet visits. It’s very important that rabbits constantly have something in their stomach, and especially before something stressful like the vet.

His normal diet is absolutely fine.

Bombur has been shaved 3 times in the past 2 months and he’s never been under anesthesia. It takes no more than 5 minutes.
