Ears query and sanitary shaving

Hi guys, so a while back you may remember I posted querying some random red dots in Buttercup’s ears. Well they went away on their own and she got a clean bill of health from the vet (we got her checked out at the same time as Pea’s follow up appointment which was roughly a month ago) Anyway since then I’ve been checking her ears regularly and they always seem to have some sort of scratch in them. Nothing major just like when you scratch your own arm a bit too rough and it leaves a red mark but I’m curious why it’s happening now as I don’t recall her having that problem before. I did wonder if perhaps her claws were left a little jagged when they were last clipped but I’ve not felt any sharpness when she’s climbing/pawing at me. I can’t see anything dodgy in her ears and I don’t think she’s scratching more than normal and she’s not shaking her head or anything. Although today her left ear looks a bit dry and flakey? Any ideas?

Also, she’s not had anymore issues with her butt being soaked after that one off I posted about before but she does occasionally have a slightly damp inner thigh area. It’s not all the time, so I assume it’s just after she’s peed. She’s still peeing in the litter tray and lifting her tail up to do so and doesn’t have any problems physically peeing but it seems to be getting on her legs a little. It’s a normal yellowish colour (altho it looks clear when I mop it up with kitchen roll, it’s actually staining her fur a little yellow) I thought maybe it’s because she’s pretty fluffy down there and I’m just more aware of it now but I don’t think she had stains on her inner legs before, she just had a bit of staining around her butt. Do you think a sanitary shave would be necessary?

I can’t say much for the ears, except maybe it’s because the weather is getting dry? Asriel gets dry ears so I just rub a little coconut oil on them.

Sanitary shave I have to do on Bombur every 2ish months, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless she was like really really nasty down there. Asriel’s all white naughty area is permanently yellow just from sitting on the hay and doing business at the same time. The vet seemed to think all was good.

As far as the wet inner thigh area, it doesn’t sound like it’s a big deal but I’d probably run a brush or comb through it every few days to make sure the fur isn’t getting tangled. My bunnies have been less good about using the litter box lately and I caught one of them sitting in a pee puddle… and of course the wet fur turned into little mats between her legs and on her back feet. I took her to the vet and they decided she didn’t quite need a hygiene shave, but they clipped out what they could and told me to brush the area regularly to help the remaining mats grow out faster. She absolutely hates it (I’m not surprised!) and I wish I had known to try and prevent it in the first place.

Also the vet told me she was hesitant to shave unless really necessary because it increased the risk of urine scald. I’m guessing if your bunny is dribbling a little when peeing, the fur there is probably important to protect her skin.
