I just adopted Sage last week and found some yellowish-orange small scabs under her ear along with scratching around her ear and shaking her ears. Sage is a 10 yr old mini-lop and my first rabbit. After doing a bunch of research, I suspect ear mites, though I can’t see any gunk or redness deeper in her ears. The first available appointment with our vet is 2 weeks away, though I could take her in for an emergency visit sooner. I have several related questions: 1 how fast do ear mites worsen/can Sage wait for the vet appointment? 2 if I try to wait for the visit, at what point should I decide she needs immediate attention? 3 Should I just take Sage on the first day the exotics vet is able to look at emergencies? The fee for an emergency visit is negligible, but the practice does see dogs and cats as well so sitting in the waiting room for hours could be very stressful for Sage. She is still eating and drinking fine and seems inquisitive, but I don’t know what is normal for her yet. Thanks!
