        Hi!

I’m wondering if anyone has experience or has seen small bumps on the ears accompanying a yeast infection? Or maybe just bumps related to mites, wax or something else?

My bunny, Allen, went to the vet a couple weeks ago to treat some bumps that are on both of his ears. The vet took a swab and said that he had a yeast infection and gave us BNT ear drops (itraconazole, triamcinolone, enrofloxacin) to take for 10 days. It seemed like the bumps were clearing up, but now I’m wondering if this was just wishful thinking/my imagination??? There were still some bumps toward the tips of his ear and the past few days it seemed to get worse again (but maybe I’m also mistaken about this?).

We went back to the vet yesterday and she said his yeast infection had cleared up but that some of the residual ear drop medicine was in there and that might be causing the continued irritation so they flushed and cleaned his ears. She also said it could be bugs but that they are very hard to see and that I should go ahead and give him Revolution (which I would rather avoid but I bought it since he might need it).

Does this sound right to you guys? Could there be other causes for the bumps? This is our first experience with this vet but the internet said this is the place to go in the Austin area, so I’m inclined to trust her. This was my first post! Thanks guys!

It’s tricky to say. I don’t know if any members have gone through this Cascade of events before, and yeast infections are not a common topic here.

Did the vet do an additional test to confirm the infection was gone?

Hi Wick, thanks so much for replying!!!

I don’t know if they did another swab this week. I’m guessing not since I wasn’t charged for one. The vet did do a full exam and gave him an ear cleaning this time though, so I guess she could just see that it was gone (if that’s even possible???).

I dunno, I’m blindly trusting her on this since this is my first bunny. Does anyone think I should get a second opinion, or just wait to see if the Revolution works? I understand if no one has had this problem – Allen’s a special lil man!
