Doesn’t like bedding..help?

My rabbit pushes her bedding to the corners, and pushes it away from where she lays.. would it be smarter to just take the bedding out and just have the litter in there? What else can I use for a soft surface for her to lay on? She seems to like the plastic floor of the cage tho. We have a dog crate for her because she’s a big girl for her age. Any advice? I kinda just wanna take it out and just leave the litter box but I don’t know if that will cause her sores on her feet? Or if that’s even okay for her to do? I’m a first time rabbit owner and I just want the best for her. Thanks in advance for any advice! It’ll be super appreciated by myself and my little bun, Cadbury.

I made blankets for my girl, she pushes and moves them where she wants them, sometimes she sleeps on them, but mostly she just plays with them

I don’t have any bedding in my bunny’s hutches and they often flop about on the bare plastic. They also flop about on the living room carpet, and Peanut flops about on his play mat. I think they’ll lay anywhere! You could always put blankets on one half of the hutch and leave the other half bare? Honestly I had the same reservations about not having any bedding but my babies are perfectly happy.

You can do away with the bedding and just have litter in litterbox only. Lots of rabbits prefer the bare floor.

You could trial a memory foam bath mat to line the floor, but keep watch if she’s a chewer or likes to pee in soft surfaces.

I definitely think I’m gonna try it! She has a little log hideout and pushes them all away from underthere as well. Shes not 100% litter trained tho..so idk what to do about that. But Thanks so much for the advice everyone!!

Is she peeing all over the cage? If so, having no bedding may well help. As soon as I stopped using bedding all over (straw) and only used it in the litter boxes, my bunnies started peeing exclusively in their litter trays

Ditto. It will probably help with her training. Bedding is too much like litter material so they can view the whole cage as a litter tray.

Yes she is peeing and pooping all over the cage but when she has the poops she eats, she goes in the litter box. She’s a very smart bunny, I think it might just be a bit of laziness lol. So technically she knows what the litter box is for. I have heard that using bedding can kinda confuse them!

It definitely confuses them. When I first stopped using bedding all over, the next morning I expected to find pee puddles everywhere and there was none whatsoever. So for my two, the peeing everywhere literally stopped instantly.
