Have you guys ever seen this?  I found it on hulu, and I’m on the fence about it. Does the ARBA not really have anything to do with rabbits as pets? Most of the cages seemed crazy tiny, which I guess if you have hundreds of rabbits you’re trying to save space.  I also noticed they grabbed rabbits by the ears. Seemed like almost opposite to everything that’s said on this Site. Do people who breed really treat their bunnies that differently?

This is a pretty old documentary,  but I couldn’t find any threads about it.  The words “rabbit” and “fever” bring up a lot of results

I wouldn’t say all people who breed treat their rabbits as just some object. I think the ones who do treat their rabbits like that are the mass breeders who are going for quantity like for meat or pet stores. Other breeders go for quality where they treat their buns with more respect. I got Harley from a breeder and he is so well handled I can pick him up with no issues to this day. I got Sally from a petstore… I cannot handle her to this day lol

I agree with NBO, there are different types of breeders.

Though ARBA’s recommendations for cage size and diet are abysmal. It says pellets should be the primary source of nutrition and the cage sizes just make me sad. 3 sq feet for a rabbit 4.4-8.8 pounds?

They wouldn’t allow something that small if we were talking about humans. -_-
