I have heard for long time by someone suggest me at the first period. That Young bunnies need to have alfalfa until they are about 8 months and the they should stop having Alfalfa just before 1 year old but they can have it again when they get old. Is that true? if not what actually we need for young bunnies.

Now I don’t have young bunny but someone ask me as her bunny pee got quite white and I think it is because the bunny got too much Calcium but her argue is she give her bunny just alfalfa no pellet no other hay.

Alfalfa is very rich in calcium and should not be given past 6 months. They need to switch their bun to Timothy or some other type of hay that isn’t alfalfa. Too much calcium can really affect the buns quality of life.

Legume hays are high in calcium and protein. A good thing for young, growing bunnies. Not so good for adults. For adult rabbits, it can be used as a treat though.
