It sounds like you’ve got much more experience than I have as the two rabbits I’ve got now are the only two I’ve ever had but let me tell you – the feeling when a nervous timid bun trusts you is just so heartwarming. Peanut and Buttercup are complete opposites. Buttercup has always been more confident whereas Peanut has always been timid, shy and easily startled. I actually decided one day that he was a bun that doesn’t want to be touched by humans and that was okay. A few months after that, he was totally different. I remember coming home once after running a few errands and he literally came booming over to greet me and be pet. I couldn’t believe it. Knowing that this bun who was naturally nervous and shy actually sought out my physical attention. It’s a wonderful feeling and I’m sure once your bond develops between you and Myrtle, you’ll know she was meant to be in your life
I do think working on your bond with her before bonding her with lovely Finn would be best. You want her to feel as comfortable as possible as bonding can be stressful, so if she has that connection with you throughout it I think it will be easier on her.
I’m not 100% certain so wait for someone else to chime in but I think a little wetness on the nose is fairly normal. The yellow-ness, could it be from her hay? My Buttercup had a permanent green nose when she was on Readigrass. It’s since gone away since stopping the readigrass but she sometimes has a little staining. The perils of a white bun!
Thank you for that 🙂
How did you get Peanut to trust you in the end?
I do need to make that bond with her and give her a chance. I have also only ever had single buns (apart from with patience and Finn who where siblings) so this is a very new experience for me.
She seems healthy otherwise. Its just a little wet, not snotty at all. I think my Lionhead Lop i had before Finn had a damp nose when i first brought her home.
Finn is being a little quite, I think he may be jelous so I am dividing my attention between the two. I sure can’t wait until these two are together LOL.
Myrtle has been out for a few hours today so I will give Finn his turn soon.
If anyone knows how to see id a doe is still producing milk could you let me know? That said i don’t feel like playing around with her teats right now haha!
