› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Dini gets neutered tomorrow!
I am very very nervous. He is barely at an acceptable weight according to the vet by 1oz. No matter how much I feed him he doesn’t gain weight but the vet can find nothing wrong with him other than being almost completely deaf. But he also never stops moving lol I am shocked he doesn’t try to run in his sleep.
But I don’t know since Walter’s death and the way Dini was when he came to me I have became ultra super protective of both he and Pacey. But I trust this vet I mean she has an herb garden in her office just for when rabbits come in to be spayed or neutered! And Dini definitely needs to be neutered before he drives me crazy lol. My roommates cat is petrified of him since he has gotten umm mature Lol.
((((((Hugs)))))))) He will be ok! And much better for it! But I know how nerve wracking it can be. This is the vet across the state, right?
Yes this is the vet that I have to drive forever to get to. Not looking forward to that part! =P
(((((good vibes)))))
Sounds like your vet is pretty awesome! I’m sure everything will go very smoothly!
Well then it sounds like he will be in VERY good hands! ![]()
It’s understandable considering all you’ve been through with Dini for you to be nervous. But we’ll be keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers for a safe and successful day. Bless you both!
((((((((((((((((((Sonn & Dini)))))))))))))))))))))))
{{{Dini}}} And some goodluck for the vet in finding them under all that fluff. lol
You never know, Dini might put on weight after being neutered. Timbu finally has a bit more covering him now post neuter. They don’t burn as much energy.
Goodluck to you and little Dini.
Let us know when he’s done surgery.
Dropped him off a few hours ago his neuter isn’t until 2pm but with the long drive and work had to drop him off early.
Good luck Dini boy!
Seems to be Neuter Day! Good luck Dini!! Squirrel is off getting his bits taken away too.
Good luck to both your buns! Hope they heal up quickly. ![]()
Dini did great is already stuffing his mouth at the vet. I am on my way out of the door to go pick him up.
Dini AND Squirrel??!!

(((((((((((((((((((doubles vibes))))))))))))))))))
I can’t pick up my little Squirrelly man til around 4 pm
Glad Dini made it through like a champ!
Good news that Dini is done and on his way home!
Hang in there, MB!
Squirrel is home, and probably about as miserable as a little boy bun can be. Oh the death glares….. *shudder*
It’s time to Pamper the Loppy boys ![]()
I am getting plenty of death glares and bunny butt as well lol
Glad they both did great!!!! Yes, definitely some time for pampering and treats. lol
Yay! I knew that little muppet would make out great. ![]()
Glad to hear Squirrel did well too.
Take care to sheild yourselves from some of those death glares. ![]()
Good to hear both boys did well. Now can we have pictures of both? Sonn? MB?
I have plans to take new pictures of both my boys this weekend.
Dini is still pouting at me unless I have food then I am his best friend ever lol. He is especially mad that I took his shelf away in his pen while he heals.
That was something that Mimzy was really steamed about too. Had to take his sleeping shelf out of his night pen, that did not go over well. Luckily he got it back in about a week or so, he healed very quickly. Of course, he hasn’t had that shelf in there now for almost a year due to his arthritis.
I’ll never forget looking at the sutures…I was wondering how I could’ve mis-gendered him!
I don’t recall you mentioning…how much did Dini have to weigh to be neutered? You said he came in at an ounce just over the line. He always looks so teeny to me, I can’t imagine how this was accomplished.
Dini is definitely not happy about not having his shelf.
The vet wanted him to weigh at least 2lbs 5oz and he was holding steady at 2lbs but finally made it to 2lbs 6oz. He is bigger than he looks in pictures. But he is also smaller than he looks in person when you pet him or pick him up you are basically holding hair lol. It takes a lot of poking to actually feel that he does indeed have a body underneath it all. He is not as big as he is supposed to be in over all growth but is healthy.
I want to pick him up!!!!!
LOLZ @ LPT…
How’s our favorite wee dust bunnies doing today?
Sonn, I hope you don’t mind another question, but…how did you discover and confirm that Dini is deaf? I ask because I am suspecting some hearing loss in Mimzy. I wonder if it’s more common in lops. Although Dini’s deafness is probably due to his bad start in life, poor dear
He’s so lucky to have you now.
That must’ve been a long way to go…and yet sounds like you have a stellar vet! ![]()
He is doing great moving around a lot more and not giving me the stink eye or the butt now lol.
I have always suspected that he has had trouble hearing since he only ever responded to things when they were up close like a rattling toy (which is what used to scare him when I first got him). But I also know that rabbits are intent on ignoring all human commands so I wasn’t sure.
But now that he is older he doesn’t react to anything unless it is directly behind him. The vet says there is nothing structurally wrong with his ears but we did a variety of tests with loud noises and the only one’s he reacted to were ones that would also vibrate the examination table or if they were directly behind his head.
I mean he literally has no reaction unless he sees it first. I caught him asleep and was standing maybe 3 feet away with my dog whistle blowing it as hard as I could and he just kept snoozing through the whistle and my dogs barking.
It makes it like a billion times harder to get him back in his cage once play time is up since I can’t just rattle the treat container I have to make sure he can see it before he comes running.
But he doesn’t seem to notice and I don’t have to worry about him flipping out like Pacey when it thunders.
Yeah, it seems like Mimzy doesn’t notice much unless it’s right in front of his face. I was pinging his pen bars with my fingers and he just sits/lies there. Shake a treat bag and he’s oblivious until he sees it coming. He didn’t use to be this way. On occasion I still see his ears tilt forward when he takes interest in something, but I don’t think that necessarily suggest auditory response.
Did Dini ever have a mite or skin problem on or around his ears? I can’t remember.
Mimzy may just be older than I think, or it could be this flaking skin problem on his ears he’s had for awhile that the vet can’t isolate.
Good to hear that he’s doing well and you’ve been forgiven. ![]()
Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii *faints*
Dini had an ear infection and a minor case of ear mites when I first got him. I am not sure if that was a contributing factor to his hearing loss or not.
Lol Lintini just don’t faint near Dini he likes to chew on hair.
But I wonder how much of a loppy thing it is. I could yell Eddie’s name at him and until he decided to look around, he had no idea what was going on. I’m not saying Dini or Mimzy doesn’t have hearing loss. I’ve just always wondered with Eddie how much his lop ears affected his hearing.
I’m glad Dini isn’t as mad anymore and is healing good. Hmm…….seems like it’s time for pics! *poke, poke, poke* lol
Yeah yeah yeah I’ll get with the pictures soon =P
Bindi is super hard of hearing too. I suspect all the infections have damaged his ears somewhat. He also gets a lot of goop in his ears. He only responds if it’s a super loud, high-pitched sound(like the fire alarm) or a sound together with vibrations. I can sneak up on him while he’s sleeping and talk to him but he won’t wake up unless I blow on him or touch him.
Oh, well. Our house bunnies are so pampered, it’s not like they need their hearing to survive or anything.
I can believe Bindi probably has hearing trouble due to those infections. Poor bub.
We can only do so much to help them too. I still don’t know why Mimzy’s ears are drying out so bad on the ends and neither does the vet. She wants to biopsy a piece of the skin next…not sure I like the sound of that.
Dini always reminds me of a wee harlequin lop I saw in the pet supply in town right before they stopped selling bunnies. If I’d brought it home I might not have Fiver today, but it was such a beautiful bun.
Hope Dini’s continuing to do well. And Squirrel too! (waves)
