  For some reason my bunny Peanut is digging like crazy. She will move her cardboard box and pillow out of the way and start to dig into the plastic flooring mat. When i got home last night, i noticed she has dug a hole through the mat where her cardboard box is. I tried to cover it with something but she just keeps digging like crazy. She has been trying to dig on the couch too when she was on it but good thing i covered it with a blanket. is there anyway to stop that? should i make a digging box for her?

  Hello! My bunny has also had the habit of digging and chewing his way through anything that he isn’t supposed to. The digging is probably caused by boredom, if not hormones. If it is because of boredom, then yes offer a digging box with safe material inside, such as shredded paper (with pet-safe ink), newspaper, other fun materials. You could also give her some chewable toys, such as a cardboard tube with some treats inside to toss around. If she isn’t spayed, then she may be acting on hormones. Spaying is always a good idea, for both behavioral and health reasons. Hope this helps!

  Yes she needs to be spayed. The vet told me to wait till 5-6 months old before doing it. She is almost 5 months now, we will need to do it next month i think.

  Digging is natural bunny behaviour so providing a digging box would be great You can use fleece blankets too.
