I need some help diapering a bunny. I initally bought size newborn for my bun Popper who weighs 3.60 lbs those appear to be way too small. Then I bought size 1 that still appear to be too small. The diaper is on one side of the room and Popper is on the other. I need diapering tips and I also need some tips on the best place to get some wheels from him. He’s doing fine getting around by pushing himself but I think it would be better to get him some wheels. Thanks for the help.

Ahhh I would sooo recommend a mailing group called Disabled Rabbits, I joined for my two special guys, and their are tons of knowledgable members on there with info on incontinent rabbits/diapers and rabbit wheel chairs. It’d be a great resource for you!

          Here’s the groups info : http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/disabledrabbits/

If you don’t want to join, I can ask your question for you! Just let me know!

Here is some info on disabled rabbits:

              This one is specific to only diapering;

              http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/diapers.html

These are diapering and other issues:

              I hope this helps too!

That information is great! I read the first article – I thought it was so sweet when she was talking about waiting for her bunny to get the cecals out of the diaper (OK, sweet and a little gross at the same time!)

I tried doing the feed him the cecals and he looked at me like I was crazy and was having none of it.

I found this site, Cats and Rabbits and More, to be helpful as well. Also has great stuff for bunnies in general.

I never used a cart or diaper, but when Spockie was incontinent, I put special carpet that’s made for incontinent pets into his house and around the floors. They just wash right out in the washer/dryer, and I had several so rotated them frequently as needed.

                    Finding their site now:

Nice people-told me about a sale on the large size that I was able to cut down with a matte knife or scissors.

Awe that is  so sweet you are caring for a special needs bunny.  I have no special needs buns at this time so I dont’ know a lot about it.

I am glad there are groups aimed at this type situation.  I wish you and your special bunnies the best. for the bunny

Wishing you the best and keep us updated on what ends up working for you as that will help us learn too.

I went searching for wheelkart resources, and I found this wonderfully sweet and inspiring story about a disabled bunny with a kart.  Lots of spunk and even back leg movement started happening.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AcQCWZAsPM

You could also check to see if their is a nearby chapter of the the House Rabbit Society and see if they can help locate wheels.

                          UPDATE:  I found this link:

http://www.doggon.com/products.html  (even though, from the title, it seem like it’s for dogs only., they actually have wheelkarts for other animals, including ones especially for rabbits!)
