A couple of DH’s friends will be visiting briefly next week. They’re just passing through, and we’ll all be going out for lunch. When DH told me, I thought: “Well, that’s okay. They won’t have to see the master bedroom,” which, in actuality, is entirely Hodari’s.
Everything she owns is in there, scattered around and stuffed in every corner and crevice: her boxes of hay, her toys, her treats, her blankets for bunching, her obstacle course of empty boxes… I don’t even make the bed up for us anymore; I haven’t since we got her! Hodari likes to play up there sometimes, and every afternoon she eats her salad up there, so I make the bed up for her. Ha, ha. When I told DH I was glad the company wouldn’t have to see our cluttered bedroom he looked a little mystified. There was even a hint of disappointment. I thought maybe it was because he wanted to show them something in his office, which is connected to the bedroom. Instead he said: “I thought we’d let them see the bunny!” ![]()

Hodari eating lunch.

And at rest. Ahhhh.
DH wants me to make the bed up for Hodari, as usual, so the company can watch her eat her salad (
) and pet her without having to stoop down, or risk stepping on her. I’d rather leave her in her cage, if he’s insistant on showing her off to people she’s never seen before; plus, it’d be really nice to pretend, even for a little while, that we’re not the bunny slaves we are, and have the bed made to look like it is still ours.
What would you do?
Let him have his pride in his child and show her off – it’s his friends so he knows whether or not they would be offended by clutter. And there is no point in being ashamed of being bunny slaves, it’s good to show that you care so much about your bun, gives a good example. I think it’s great that he wants to show Hodari off to his friends as is! Maybe just vacuum up and clean the litter box first. lol If she’s scared she’ll hide in one of her hidey spots, my buns do.
Awww, that’s cute!
If she hasn’t had strangers over before, she might be too shy to come out of the cage anyway (I know my two usually are). Just make sure everything’s clean so it doesn’t look like you sleep with hay on your pillow every night (though of course we know you probably do 😉
I LOVE hearing about boyfriends, husbands, dads, brothers, etc falling under a rabbit’s spell
hahaahh ONE MORE STEP INTO RABBIT WORLD DOMINATION ![]()
My dad ALWAYS wants Chacha to come to him, but she is still scared of him. He did say that he held pellets in his hand yesterday morning and she nudged his hand for ’em ![]()
Grandpa and Chacha bun from last night.. he was feeding her snacks

Chacha: ”Hi gwandpa, thanx for tweats!”
PS, i love how hodari’s foot sticks up when she’s sleeping haha
Hee, hee.
He wants to show off!
Yeah, I think it’s pretty sweet that DH is so proud of her. I’m afraid she’ll be too nervous outside of her cage, but I’ll definitely let him take his friends to meet her. Lol about the hay on our pillows; every time I brush my hair there’s hay in it! And DH complains all the time about bunny hair in his beard.
You guys don’t think the bed looks terrible that way, though? I’m used to having everything neat and tidy when company comes.
LoveChaCha, that pic of your Dad is adorable. DH is always talking to Hodari, and he loves it when she follows him around and tugs on his clothes. She is the first one he says good-bye to when he’s going to work.
Aww, I’d want to show her off too. I don’t think the bed looks bad that way. It’s obvious the sheet is for her. Nobody’s going to think you’re messy just because you have a bunny.
Lol, LoveChaCha, that’s a great pic. I love seeing how bunnies can transform even the toughest man into a baby-talking, crawling, nut. ![]()
No, it looks fine – it’s obvious it’s made up for her and there is nothing wrong with that. And if your hubby takes pride in the fact his bed is more the bunny’s bed, let him be a proud papa to Hodari.
Chacha, that is cute. Glad she’s starting to let your dad get some love too!
My husband loves our little Momo-bun. He loves to show her off to guests and give them craisins to treat her.
That’s so sweet! ![]()
Thanks, everyone.
I feel better about the bed now.
Joyfull: My DH is the same way. When we had our guinea pig, Simon, DH always asked the guests if they wanted to feed him a slice of carrot or pepper. Our neighbors thought he was eccentric for walking up the hill to a meadow where he could pick the best grass, nettles, and dandelions for Simon.
I’m glad I have such a thoughtful husband.
Husbands are silly like that. Mine will do anything for our “babies” LOL!
Aw, I think it’s sweet he would walk up to get Simon his greens. ![]()
While I was in the bathroom this morning, i heard my dad say ” KOUCHA PIN!! Where are you?!?!” His nickname for her is Koucha pin.. lol!!!!!!!!!
I have a late class on Thursdays. I came home and the rabbits were running around everywhere. I asked my husband if he gave them their lettuce. He said, “yes I gave them their stupid lettuce”. Funny how he gave it to them all on this own.
Silly S. I don’t know who is cuter, Hodari or your DH. ![]()
My husband is good about feeding Momo on days that I work in the afternoon, but he always forgets to refill her hay. Maybe I should show him that video of the bunny getting her teeth pulled that is on here somewhere. That outta keep him from forgetting.
