First I want to say you guys were a great help a few weeks back with Dexter’s litter box issues. I removed the newspaper lining his cage (he has a plastic floor, not wire) and he has never peed anywhere but his box again. Well, unless my husband is around.
Dexter is a sweet bunny and likes everyone. He’ll come up to you and likes to be pet and rub noses with you, but you can’t pick him up and he won’t sit and cuddle with you as you watch tv. He’ll stick around for a few minutes then be on his way. Unless you are my husband. As soon as he walks in, he runs over to him, climbs all over him, will sleep on him, snuggle with him. He has decided he loves him and this is his person. Maybe the dad was his caretaker in his previous home, who knows. The problem is, if I walk into the room and come anywhere near the couch where they are sitting, Dexter will pee on the couch and start marking with droppings. The other day I walked over to sit down with them and Dexter got up and sprayed me in the face!
Sooooo, not sure how to handle this! My husband hasn’t gone into his room to feed him or spend time with him since. I don’t want them to not be able to hang out anymore but can we fix this? We have been talking about adopting another bun so he can have a friend but now we are worried. When you have a bonded pair do they get territorial with their friend? Is he going to do this every time one of us goes near his friend? Such a naughty boy
Thanks!
