Besides hay what else do you give your buns for breakfast, lunch, dinner. And what times I’m trying to get on a schedule.

My bunny currently is on a pelletless diet due to some special dietary concerns for her. But this is my typical schedule for my bunnies in the past.

I choose to divide the daily serving portion in half and give half in morning and half at night.

          AM: 1/8th cup pellets
2 cups greens min (could be more depending on and 2

NO LUNCH: They normally never scarfed everything down — just ate some of breakfast and came back at lunch to get some more, otherwise hay is always there for them.

          PM 1/8th cup pellets
2 cups greens min (could be more depending on and 2

Treats: blueberry, baby carrot, quarter size banana pieces OR a baked bunny treat. I will usually give once or twice a day. No scheduled in time, but normally when I am hanging out or saying goodnight.

I give my Bam his daily pellets in a treat ball. It seems to work, he chases it and eats, but not all of it like he would if I gave them to him in a bowl. So there are always some left for him to work on getting at later in the day.

If your bun is greedy and you have small-size pellets I suggest you scatter them or serve them in a treat-ball, we’ve had a few sad stories lately about bunnies choking on their pellets. It’s very uncommon, but there is a risk if your bunny is the type of bun that more or less “inhales” his pellets. (My Bam is one of those “inhalers”, hence the treat-ball).

They always have hay but I top it up daily. And most days they get apple twigs. So that’s what they eat during the day. Most of what they eat they get during their active time, ie mornings an evenings. I try to give them a good variation of greens, but it can be difficult now in late winter. As soon as the growth-season starts, they get lots of forage.

I give Theodore just less than 1/2 cup pellets in the morning first thing – he tends to spread these out right until midday. Then he has timothy hay to munch on all day and he is great at eating his hay. In the evening he gets his food bowl filled with a variety of veg – kale, carrot tops, leaves, parsley and basil are his favourites. He then gets the odd treat – we’re litter training him at the minute so usually he gets a treat when he uses his tray. He gets raspberries, cherries, apple or some carrot usually for a treat (very small amounts).
Everyones regimen is a little different but this one works for Theo!

                My two get:

Breakfast: Green Veggies (a ceramic crock full), 1 TBSP Timothy Pellets
Supper: Green Veggies, 1 TBSP Timothy Pellets
Bedtime Snack: 1 Romaine Leaf, sprinkle of pellets

They have hay all day and get little treats a few times a day (usually Oxbow biscuits or fruit). I can’t say no when they ask.
