The way that I cut my buns back nails is I get my husband to hold the bunny, baby burping style, and I gently take a foot clip the nails. If your bunny is very stressed about it, best to do 1 foot per day. And always reward with a treat after. Make sure the holder (if you can get one) is comfortable holding the bunny and holds him firmly. Some bunnies will try to jump in they are scared. This is the only way I am able to cut my buns nails. Other members may have suggestions that would work better for you.

It’s a good idea to have a box of cornstarch in the house. Even experienced nail cutters can sometimes make a mistake and cut a bit too short which causes bleeding. Cornstarch will stop the bleeding. A good method is to put some in a small container and just dunk the bleeding nail in. Not trying to scare you, but it can happen. I’ve done it several times. Honestly, I think it’s worse for the bunny parent than then bunny because you feel so bad after!

Thanx for the image!!! Its very helpful! His front nails were also a lot longer than the back ones-is that normal- I could cut about 1mm of each max with 2 having such a “long” quick, that I couldn’t cut at all! Front legs I could cut 3-5mm off each toe and still be far enough away from the quick!

Ps: he is so calm for the cut! I burito wrapped him somewhat and he didn’t even jolt once during the process! Such a lovely baby boy! (Such a sucker for bunny love)
