I know babies are supposed to have unlimited hay and pellets but he is not a huge hay eater at all. I have tried alfalfa, timothy, and plain? looking hay the lady gave me when I bought him. Today he’s had some VERY loose pudding type cecotropes, a few very tiny hard poops, and a few normal ones. He’s eating the pellets, drinking, and munched on a little bit of hay when I fed it to him. It’s enough not normal poops to worry me and watch him closely. He’s been getting unlimited Mannapro, all the hay above, and I’ve been slowly introducing veggies according to HRS guidelines. In the past 2 weeks he’s had romaine mostly, a little parsley and mint, and a small amount of mustard greens. About a 1/2 cup a day maybe? Hard to judge but he’s not getting tons, I’m not sure on his weight but he’s a Holland lop so small. He is getting neutered April 24th, so I’ll get his weight then, I don’t think a regular scale would even register his weight now.
I’ve been reading like crazy trying to figure out if I should cut out the veggies, cut back on the pellets to hopefully get him to eat hay or what to do. From what I’ve read the teeny poop is because he’s not getting enough hay, and the pudding poop could be a few different things. Last night I ordered Oxbow young rabbit food, and a bunch of different hays recommended on here. APD timothy gold, and Oxbow orchard, and oat. They don’t sell Critical Care so I’m going to order some of that from Amazon to have on hand.
Any advice to ease a worried bunny mom? Thanks for any suggestions and for reading!
