I know on the the rabbit.org list it says that cucumber leaves are okay to feed buns. And I know the questions as to whether or not it is safe to feed has been sovled here: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/124370/Default.aspx However, I was wondering if anyone has gone ahead and fed their buns cucumber leaves. Were they received well? The “father-in-law” is growing cucumbers and I was going to snag a few leaves from his plants and give them to the little rascals. I just wasn’t sure if the fuzzy ones would enjoy them or not.

Oddly enough just last weekend I was able to offer some leaves to my boys. They ignored the first two (I put them in a salad at the same time), nibbled the third, and on the third day ate the fourth leaf. I will give them more but I don’t think they are a favourite. Mind you these two are picky eaters and don’t seem to have exactly typical rabbit tastes. They refuse mint (that is four different kinds of mint including plain spearmint and peppermint) , and turned their noses up at Swiss Char (was I ever happy I didn’t pay top dollar for it a couple months ago), and after having originally liked it now refuse spinatch. All that said why not give the cucumber leaves a try. Can’t see how it would hurt.

Thanks Grey Dove. I’m going to bet that my diva, Skipper, will turn up her nose to it. But Ian and Hugo don’t really care. I’ll give it try then. Thanks again. =]

You’re more then welcome, … please let me know what they think of them, … I’ll be curious.

Using another list on that page as a reference I first offered the picky wonders some broccoli and it vanished, so next time I was in the garden I tried picking a nice big broccoli leaf and it was very well recieved.

Looking forward to hearing if any of yours like them.

I’ve given mine zucchini-leaves. Bam refuses. Yohio eats them, although not with enthusiasm. But left with him overnight, they’re gone in the morning. I didn’t give them the really big leaves.
