Clump of poo stuck PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone,

A little background on my bunny ( you can read ahead to the next paragraph for the problem that I’m having )
I am a new bunny mommy, my bunny is 3 months right now she hasn’t had her nails clipped yet, and I’ve been practicing on how to trance her so i can get all of her nails trimmed with ease. I haven’t had a successful trance because she is so jittery and today was the first time I was able to trance her successfully.

After being tranced I noticed this huge clump of poo stuck right near her genitile area. Its lie a HUGE clump natted in her fur! I dont now how this happened because I change her litter every time I see it gets full and I clean her cage out every other day ( she is still in the process of being litter trained ) How do I go upon trying to clean this for her? It is SERIOUSLY nappy down there and the clump is bigger than a quarter. Like I said earlier she is not used to being tranced, so i want to make sure to be as cautious as I can. Do i just get a damp wash cloth? and if it doesnt come out should i try to carefully clip some of the fur? I wish i wouldve taken a picture the poop is seriously STUCK in her fur. I tried moving it a little bit and it felt like it was apart of her body O_O I dont want to hurt her trying to clean it any advice would help a lot!

You could just put her in a VERY shallow sink with a bit of warm water and try to work the clump out while it’s wet. Just make sure she doesn’t get cold before she’s dry. Bindi gets clumps like this sometimes. I use the sink method if it’s a squishy, wet clump but if it’s dry I usually shave it off with a pair of small pet electric clippers.

LPT is right… The butt bath is the best… I use the kitchen sink as it is a good height and let’s me stay in control… Blossom sits in about 2-3 cm of warm water and rests her front paws on my forearm whilst I gently work the poop off her bottom… Then we have snuggles whilst I dry her bottom on a soft cotton towel…. Then she goes back in with the others and bemoans the indignity of it all.

After the last few months of dealing with this problem myself (well, my bunny!)I think there’s a good chance that you will be treating the symptom not the problem. Please refer to my response at the next post after your from Bunny Bugs about this same thing for some suggestions on diet if it ends up being a returning problem. I have had a couple of bunnies with this problem and it hasn’t been a one time thing. Best of luck

Okay I could really use some help now. I tried what you said a shallow bath but the poop is so huge and so stuck. Its almost right under her tail and it is so stuck i’m afraid to cut it off with scissors bc I dont know what I’m cutting. I have pictures hopefully I can post it in another comment. Is there any natural solution I could use to loosen up the poop and break it up to little pieces? I tried rubbing out the poop when she was in the water. The water was warm but the clump wont break up. I had her in a trance to try to slowly pluck it at the edges without hurting her but it wont come out. I know i wasnt tugging too hard because she wasnt reacting to it but I’m all out of ideas on what to do. Please help

Wow! I’ve never had a rabbit with poop stuck that didn’t soften up rapidly with simply soaking in water, working at it with a paper towel and getting it off. Good you’re being cautious because the skin could tear too. I’m so sorry I just don’t know what else to say. Maybe start a new post and see if someone else can suggest something. I’m just totally flabbergasted that a warm water soak isn’t doing it.
