Closer To Being the King Of My Room!

 Hello Binky Bunniers!

 

My bun Muffin currently is restricted to a cage, it is pretty big but still, he loves having floor-time.  I also have gotten to the point where he is litter trained, sure he has a few poops in his cage here and there, but nearly all his poops, (95%) are in his litter box.  (The other 5% usualy are from when he munches his ceacals straight from his butt, sometimes he leave a few tasty bits behind )

I have recently been clearing out lots of furniture for muffin to have space to roam, (Where his gigantic house is standing used to be my computer desk.  Yes I ditched my computer so I use my mom’s computer to get on BB )

In the part of his room where I still….(Wow I typed “his” not “my”) where I still need to clean I have a temp-cardboard barrier.  When I’m done cleaning/bunny proofing that part I can remove it!

I was also planning on when I let him roam around unsupervised (the way you would let a kitty-cat) in my room that he would be littertrained enough to let him on my bed. (I can only say this here for my friend once said “You let him on your bed?????!!” when I said jokingly “Oh you don’t have to worry about stepping on poo when your sitting on the bed, he doesn’t get up there too often.”) I also wanted to be done bun-proofing my enteir room before he gets near free range privliges.(I will lock him up at night, I don’t want to roll over him in my sleep!) However I believe this process needs to be sped up!  I was lying on my bed watching mufin binky when he came to the edge of my bed and stood up, I said “Hello baby-poo!” (yes I baby talk to my buns, deal with it! I bet lots of you do it too!) and he jumped up on my bed……

Time to buy some thrift-store bedsheets, just incase he needs to mark this new-found-land!

How many other people had to speed up their house buns bunny proofing because they were to eager to explore?

I did. I am terrible at bunny proofing because for the past 5 years I didn’t have to worry about it. Merlin was the perfect bunny and never chewed or marked territory when he was out so I never had to worry about him. But I got baby Bromley on St. Patty’s day, Merlin died last month, and I rescued Odette two weeks ago. Suddenly I have to worry about the safety of my electrical cords and my books! Bromley spends most of his time on the couch or windowsill and when he is on the floor he is playing with the cats so he doesn’t have time to get into anything. But this weekend Odette finally got comfortable in her new home. I opened her cage and she actually hopped out of it and onto the floor herself! And did she go hide in the bird stand like usual? No! She took off and explored the whole livingroom and then took off for the kitchen! I am still limping around and not very mobile so my husband and I were doing a very comedic mad dash lifting up cords and spraying things with bitter apple. I gave up on the kitchen and just put up the bunny gate to keep her in the livingroom….but she kept trying to knock it down! Luckily she discovered how awesome the cat tree is and went for a nap. I needed the nap after all that! XD

Haha, yes rabbits show you what you forgot to bun-proof VERY quickly. “Oooh look! A tasty phone cord NOM!”

Yes, they find the only thing you didn’t bunny proof!!! I bunny proofed the buns whole room, and one day i was listening to music, and i bend over the bunny cage for 2 seconds, and “chomp” there goes my headphones. LOL!
I also talk to my bunnies in baby talk….. heheh….

Why is it that even when they do evil or mischievous things we still love them and worship them? I can’t stay mad at Muffin for over a seconed. It just goes:

1) Witness atrocity
2) Gasp in shock
3) Say the following “Muffin, you bad!”
4) Rub rabbits forehead gently
5) Say the following “Look what you did ya goof!”
6) Continue rubbing his head
7) Wisper “You bad” “bad” “bad”
8) Say the following “You’re so cute, little puffel-fluff”
9) Get on with life

Exactly right! After Lionel chomped my headphones, I said to him “You are such a bad boy!” But then he stood up on his hind legs and licked his lips, and I melted and went and made his salad….. With extra carrots. They are just to cute to be angry at!
Luckily I am handy with a sautering iron and was able to revive my headphone from the attack of cute bunny that didnt know any better. Haha

I fibbed a little….in the 5 years I had Merlin he actually did chew ONE thing. And this is a hilarious story so I have to share it!
I was doing some homework for one of my classes, so my boyfriend decided to occupy himself on the PS2. Merlin was being his adorable self binkying around and playing with my cat, Salem. Every now and then he would hop onto my textbook to get a scratch or kiss and then run off. He wanted his daddy to do the same, so he was binkying at Spike’s feet and standing up against his leg with the whole “look, aren’t I cute?!” eyes. But Spike was too absorbed in his game and ignored him. Merlin would not be ignored and kept doing this for about a half hour. I would tell Spike to pet Mer, but he didn’t. Finally, Mer got fed up and just reached up and bit through the game controller and then bolted out of the area. Spike didn’t realize what happened at first, but I saw it and was KILLING myself laughing! I couldn’t even talk! It took Spike a little longer to see the humor in it and that I was right – it was his fault for ignoring the Great and Powerful Merlin!

Well all good buns be a bit naughty when you ignore them!

I built Muffin a staircase to my bed and got the barrier removed! Now I’m experimenting, letting him free roam unsupervised checking every 10min. And he’s gotten to 3 hours without incident (ate furniture) Getting close to free in my room bunchkin! I’ll post a pic of the staircase soon!
