Hello!! So I’ve had my bunny Kylo for almost 2 years now, and when we first rescued him he was having surgeries because he was attacked by a raccoon. He had an abcess by his eye, and they drained it once and were going to drain it again, but it was healing. I was able to take him home from the vet, and I didn’t notice until the fur around his eye started growing back that his eye was discharging. It was clear and had no smell, but to double check I took him for a check up and the doctor said there’s nothing to worry about and to wipe it off so he doesn’t get dermatitis. She said it was most likely a leaky tear duct from the attack, and if they were to drain it, it could cause irritation and more problems. Fast forward almost 2 years, and his eye still leaks. It doesn’t bother him at all, his hair just sticks together around his eye. I was wondering if there’s a way to unstick his hairs around his eye so it’s not so clumpy, and if there’s a cream I could use for his skin so it doesn’t get irritated and develop dermatitis? Someone recommended me a barrier cream, but I’m not sure if it’s safe for buns.

You can use plain vaseline as a barrier cream. Other creams that can be use on buns are sudocream and beeswax cream. You can craft your own beeswax cream with 1 part beeswax to 2 parts oil. I make beeswax cream with rapeseed oil and coconut oil plus beeswax, it’s very useful for humans as well as buns.

Thank you!! I’ll definitely try it.
