I’m thinking of building a better hutch / cage for my bunny. I was wondering which one would be best because I do not know which would be best for my bun and I truly want her to be happy.
I want to make this one because it is simple but I was thinking of changing it to the dimensions of 42″W x 24″L x 48″H
This one looks to be a bit big for the dimensions I will be using but I wanted to know if this one is more ideal than the other.

I feel that 42″ isn’t long enough. In either case you’d want something at least 59″ to give bunny plenty of room to hop around and allow room for the litter tray, toys, bowls etc.
I think either design is fine providing that a) it’s made longer. b) there is enough head room on each level for bunny to stand up and stretch up on hind legs. c) that you reduce how steep the ramp is (I did a quick paint edit as an example for how you could do that by have platforms at each end of the ramp). You could also skip the ramp entirely and use steps instead.

My own bunny condo is 43″ long by 29″ wide by 31″ high on two levels, which is the biggest I could manage to fit into my tiny apartment. Tack on to that the 6′ x 4′ X-pen that I put up every evening. You just have to do the best that you can do.
