How often do you clean your rabbit’s chin and how do you do it? Typically, if all is well health-wise with your rabbit, you usually don’t need to clean the chin. They do a pretty good job of keeping themselves clean. Wick gets his chin all wet from drinking from a bowl, but it resolves itself after a bit of his own grooming. Does your rabbit seem to groom it a lot herself (itching it)?
I will say that there are rabbits that will have teeth problems, but seem fine. Wick has had two dental procedures (~5mo and ~8mo) and both times, he was eating fine. I only knew his teeth were becoming a problem because we were already seeing the vet weekly for his upper respiratory treatments, and the vet does routine teeth checks at each. I now know that Wick tends to pee outside the litterbox more and be generally more irritated when his teeth are bothering him, rather than not eating. Additionally, his poo may get a bit smaller.
Another item could be drooling from being too hot.
Can you provide details on how long its been like this, if there are times when it’s worse than others, is the crustiness present anywhere else?
