So, from my bun having GI stasis and having to syringe feed him pineapple juice yesterday, his fur is dry and matted and crunchy under his chin.  I had tried to put a warm rag under it after feeding him and dabbing it dry but it didn’t work and he does not like to be touched under his chin.  Should I just let it be? Percy can’t seem to clean there very well.  Any suggestions?

        Thanks!

It’s inevitable to get their chin and chest dirty when syringe feeding. Try to clean him immediately to prevent more material from sticking to his fur. As for the already dried stuff, you could try to wet your fingers in warm water and kinda rub it off a little at a time. Don’t over stress over this, it happens!
When you’ll take him back for the check-up at the vet, they will know how to completely clean him

I know that bunnies shouldn’t really get wet but maybe dip part of the towel and not wring it not and just kind of soaking his chin? Then drying it?
If it still there, maybe use a little drop of Dawn? I recommend gorgeous guineas though if you have some already from having Guinea pigs.

I wouldn’t use soap as yet, it can be veeery messy and it’s close to his mouth… unless you have experience with other small animals of course.
Only time I was forced to wash the bun it was a mess. Since it’s dirt derived from sugary stuff do try lukewarm water and some friction with your fingers if he’ll let you

Please don’t use Dawn. It’s very stripping and would wreak havoc on fragile bunny skin. Warm water almost always suffices

Oh I’m sorry if I was misunderstood, but thank you Muchelle and Q8bunny for correcting me. Dawn is definitely stripping but I was think that the mat was separate from the skin oops ?

No worries. After the oil spill animal rescue ad campaigns Dawn does, a lot of people would reach for it, I think
Dawn: Ok for seals and birds. Too harsh for bunnies. (They should totally steal this slogan.)
