So Mars got neutered a few months ago and for the next three days he was on some sort of pain medicine. the vets there told me that it was chicken flavored medicine. Obviously this set off some red flags. I had never heard of a vet giving a rabbit CHICKEN flavored medicine. I need to take mars to a vet for a check up and nail trim and i’m just wondering if i should still go to that vet.

I know I’ve had to give my buns a medicine that was designed for dogs, so it was liver flavored (I think it might have been metacam, a pain med). They did NOT like it, but it worked. Unfortunately many rabbit meds are off-label, so there aren’t always rabbit versions available. Sometimes vets are able to mix up formulations with bunny friendly flavors, but not always.

          What was the actual drug?

I think the actual drug was Meloxicam but it could maybe also be Butorphanol or Torbugesic

Oh yeah, I think that was the same thing that we had when it was liver flavored. :-/
