We were back at vet today with Charlie after she sneezed out some not so nice stuff this morning. He gave her a good once over  and couldn’t hear any congestion or wheezing. We talked about maybe putting her back on the antibiotic she had some trouble with, since it’s a good one. We also talked about the mold issue we had in our air ducts that was taken care of yesterday.

He decided we are going to treat this as environmental  for now and not continue antibiotics unless she gets worse,  or if we see a change in appetite or other signs she’s not feeling well. He feels it may be more of an irritation from environment. He said most rabbits he’s seen that have chronic pasturella have a more constant thick discharge. Hers is every few days with the thick stuff. More wet and drippy like a person with allergies other times.

He also suggested changing her litter from pine pellets to Yesterday’s News pellets and maybe getting a hepa air cleaner.

As soon as we got her home, I went to store and got the Yesterdays News litter. Then I’ve ordered a room hepa air cleaner for in her room she sleeps in. Since the door is closed there at night I thought that would be good for her. It should be here Saturday. Probably would be good to have one for rest of house too eventually, but I figured where she sleeps is a good start.

That sounds like a good plan! Always nice to rule out the easier options first, especially when she seems fine otherwise.
