Charlie had dental surgery on Wednesday.
Once vet was in her mouth it was discovered her lower left back molar needed pulled due to infection. Fortunately it had not accessed or spread. Her other teeth were filed down as needed.

She is doing very well today… not quite 72 hours post surgery.

The question I have, hoping maybe somebody has experienced this is she seems to grind her teeth. I’m familiar with tooth purring and also what pain grinding sounds like. This is different. It’s almost like marbels clacking and at times scratching a chalkboard. It’s not constant.

She is on a good sized dose of pain meds and seems in no discomfort. Active, happy, eating hay and doing everything she should.

I talked with vet tech yesterday and she said possibly she is grinding her teeth down to how she wants them and to remember she has a very new mouth to remember  right now.
Charlie has a checkup on Tuesday, so I will ask her vet, but has anyone else had this after dental surgery? Her vet is an exotic vet and one of her specialties is dentistry.

I have not seen this personally. But, to me, it sounds as though she is getting a feel for her “new” teeth. After all, she was probably in pain for a while and suddenly the painful parts are gone and her mouth feels different.
